The mene maculata are tall and particularly flattened, thin and tall, and shaped like spectacle lenses. The general body length is 10 to 20 cm and the weight is 75 to 200 grams. The body is nearly triangular, the back is relatively straight and the abdomen is particularly curved, and the ventral margin is thin and sharp. The contour of the body and abdomen has a large curvature, the ventral margin is convex and thin, and the dorsal side is slightly curved, hence the name. The scales are so tiny that they can be touched but invisible. The mouth of mene maculata is small, almost vertical, retractable, and inclined upward like a tube. Anal fin low, base long. Adults are mostly buried under the skin. mene maculata caudal peduncle short and flattened. The caudal fin is deeply forked, the upper and lower lobes of the same length. The dorsal fin is single, without spines, the front ray is long and not forked; the anal fin also has no spines, and the soft rays are covered under the skin, only the outer end is exposed; the pelvic fin is long, located at the ventral margin, and the first ray is elongated in adults Filamentous; caudal fin deeply forked. The body of the mene maculata is silvery white, with a bluish back and scattered blue dots. The fins are pale in color.
