Physical characteristics and growth and reproduction of decapterus kurroides
decapterus kurroides likes to live in the upper layers of water. Often inhabits rivers, lakes and their associated water bodies to fatten.

Decapterus kurroides is flat and slightly tall, with a narrow abdomen, and the ventral ridge extends from the pectoral fins to the anus. The head is large, about 1/4 of the body length. The snout is short, blunt and wide. Eyes small, below the cephalad mid-axis. Pharyngeal teeth in 1 row, crawl-shaped and flat. Gill rakers specialized, healed into half-moon-shaped spongy filters. Body covered with small round scales. Lateral line scales 108-120, broadly arcuate lower anal fins 3, 12-13, medium long, starting point behind and below the base of the dorsal fin. Pectoral fins 7, 8, starting point closer to the pectoral fin than to the anal fin, not reaching the anus. The caudal fin is deeply forked. The abdominal cavity is large and the peritoneum is black. The swim bladder has 2 chambers, the anterior chamber is long and enlarged, and the posterior chamber is small and conical at the end. The body is dark gray on the back and sides, silvery white on the underside, and the fins are light gray.
The age of sexual maturity of decapterus kurroides is 1-2 years earlier than that of grass carp. Mature individuals are also smaller, generally more than 3 kg of female fish can reach maturity. A female fish weighing about 5 kg has a relative egg weight of about 40,000-50,000/kg body weight, and an absolute egg weight of 200,000-250,000.
